Description: Trails of a variety of distances and terrains will allow walkers to choose to trek to the Observation Deck that overlooks nearby Eagle Park with it impressive eagle's nest, use the boardwalk to journey into the tamarack bog, wander on grass trails along the edge of the forested area, or delve deep into the prairies where the beauty of the wildflowers, especially seeded in 2005 and 2007, will readily balance the challenge of the pleasantly rigorous "hike" on the way to the edge of the Sauk River. Scenic overlooks include eagle nest viewing areas and educational interpretative signs.

Location: Granite Edge Cafe
Start Point / Driving Directions: 244 Broadway St. W. Rockville MN 56369 Traveling north on I-94, use the Paynesville/Waite Park Exit #164 then turn left (west) on to Hwy 23 toward to Rockville. After almost 3 1/2 miles, at the green sign for "Downtown Rockville," turn right onto Broadway Street (Co. Rd 82). Go for about a mile. Just before the brown sign for "Rockville County Park & Nature Preserve" and the Rockville Gas and Bait Station with the walleye on the roof (now closed for business), look for Granite Edge Cafe (Hours: M-Sat: 6am-7pm & Sun 6am-3pm.) After registering at the Cafe, turn right (north) onto Co. Rd. 139 (Mill St). Cross the RR tracks and the Sauk River and then STAY LEFT to go onto Sauk River RD by bearing left at the "Y," leaving Co Rd 139 and entering Sauk River Rd which soon becomes unpaved. Turn right into the Parking area. (Toilets available in the center parking area.)
