Clemson is a University steeped in history and traditions and during semesters, up to 17,000 students call Clemson University home. School pride is very evident at this University where almost everyone it seems is wearing orange or purple. Stroll past Clemson Memorial Stadium which is commonly known as Death Valley where 80,000 people come to cheer on their favorite team. And don't forget to make time to stop by the Hendrix Student Center (M-F opens at 10:30 and Sat. Sun. at 11: am, closed during summer break), which features Clemson's famous ice-cream and blue cheese, made right here on campus. Southern Living magazine describes Clemson's vanilla ice cream as the "the standard by which the rest of the world's is judged." . This is a beautiful campus in all seasons, a not to be missed treat. Enjoy your walk on this schools picturesque, 17,000 acre tree-lined campus sitting on the shores of Lake Hartwell in Northwest South Carolina. Clemson College originally opened its doors as a military college in 1892 and its military history is very evident on campus.
