Event comments

Brookside Gardens include various botanical gardens with Japanese tea house and ponds and the Conservatories with changing colorful displays. Fee for IVV credit and non-IVV participation is $3.00. Children 12 and under walk for free (IVV credit included) courtesy of the Freestate Happy Wanderers. No admission fee for the gardens. Water and restrooms are available in the Visitor Center. Water and restrooms are also available in the Conservatories at Brookside Gardens.

Event information

Closed on holidays from Veterans Day through Presidents Day. Call the Visitor Center to confirm holiday hours (phone - 301-962-1400, website http://www.montgomeryparks.org/brookside/ ). PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED in Brookside Gardens. The trail is primarily on paved pathways, sidewalks, street shoulders with some natural surfaces (rated 2B). This trail has some hills and has one section not suitable for strollers. A second different 11km loop can be walked for 22km. The 5km trail is primarily on sidewalks in the neighborhood next to the gardens (rated 2A).

This event also has a physical start box. These are the driving directions:

1800 Glenallan Avenue, 20902, 301-962-1400. Capital Beltway (I-495) exit 31A. follow Georgia/Rt 97 N to Wheaton about 3.1 miles. At Randolph turn right. At 2nd traffic light, turn right on Glenallan, to Brookside Gardens on right. Park in 1st lot. If full, return to Glenallan, turn right, park in 2nd lot off Glenallan or in lot near Nature Center. The box containing the registration materials is located at the information counter in the Visitors Center.
