The 5K Veterans Walk is new for 2021. ***** If you are visiting Gettysburg and only have time to do one of the three YREs, this event is the one we recommend. ****** Pets are not allowed inside the Gettysburg National Cemetery but you can do a detour and avoid the cemetery****The "A" Award is a 4" patch featuring the 1st Minnesota Monument which is on the 5K Battlefield Trail.

Event information
Closed all holidays. Tour Operators please make arrangements with the POC. After registering, you must drive to the start at the parking lot for the National Cemetery. ***** There are two 5K trails; either trail may be done for 5K credit. Both trails must be done for 10K credit.*****The 5K Veterans Trail goes through the Soldiers' National Cemetery and into downtown Gettysburg. Places that qualify for the AVA Veterans Special Program are featured. The 5K Battlefield Trail goes past the "Highwater Mark" area of the battlefield, the Pennsylvania Monument, past some of the artillery positions on Day 2 and 3, and to Visitor Center & Museum. ***** There are no restrooms at the parking area; restrooms on the Veterans Trail are passed within 1K of starting. Restrooms on the Battlefield Trail are passed about 2.6K after starting.

Driving to the start box
909 Fairfield Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325 (717)334-9171. From the square in Gettysburg go south on Baltimore St. (Bus. 15 S., PA 116 W.) 1 block to Middle St.Turn right on Middle St. (PA 116 W.) and go 7/10 mile, passing traffic signals at Washington St., Franklin St, West St., and Confederate Ave./Seminary Ridge. The YWCA driveway is 1/10 mile past Confederate Ave. on the right.
