Start point is open 7x24 *****Originally laid out in 1817, Ligonier later became a stop on the Philadelphia - Pittsburgh Turnpike. Stage coaches stopped here and hitched their horses at hitching posts around what is now known as "the Diamond." Passengers obtained food and supplies in local stores. The town grew slowly and became an incorporated borough in 1834. The Diamond, and its trademark Gazebo are the town's center, hosting concerts, dances and other community events. NO FREE WALKERS.

Driving to the start box
216 W Loyalhanna St, Ligonier, PA 15658*****From the East (Rte 30 West):Turn right at S Market St (Traffic light right next to Fort Ligonier). At the second intersection (W. Loyalhanna St), turn left. After two short blocks, Ramada Inn will be on your right.*****From the West (Rte 30 East):Turn left at the first traffic light as you come into Ligonier (Walnut St). Immediately take the first right (W Loyalhanna St). After 5 short blocks, the Ramada Inn will be on your left. From points south and the Penna Turnpike (I-76):Turn left on Rte 31 as you come off the toll plaza. Take the first left, Main St, which goes back over the Turnpike and bears around to the left. As Main St forks, take the right fork towards Ligonier (Rte 711). Follow Rte 711 through Stahlstown to Ligonier (12 1/2 miles). 711 becomes Market St. At the second intersection past Rte 30, (W. Loyalhanna St), turn left. After two short blocks, Ramada Inn will be on your right.
