Event comments

See the reconstructed State House of 1676, archaeological excavations and the Godiah Spray Tobacco Plantation, part of an 800-acre outdoor living history museum. At the waterfront, see the replica of the Maryland Dove, a square-rigged ship, which along with the Ark, brought the first settlers and supplies from England. A gift shop and picnic area (bring along a picnic lunch) are on the grounds. Half the walk is through the woods. Bring insect repellant during the buggy months. Fee for IVV credit or non-IVV $3. Children 12 and under walk free (IVV-Credit included) courtesy of Freestate Happy Wanderers.

Event information

Part of the walk goes through Historic St. Mary's City. While the walk can be done at any time, weather permitting, the historic exhibits are normally open only when the Visitor Center is. The basic hours for the Visitor Center are Summer: Wed-Sun 10am-4pm (closed Mon and Tue), Spring/Fall: Tue-Sat 10am-4pm (closed Sun & Mon). More detailed (and updated) information can be found on the website http://www.hsmcdigshistory.org. When the Visitor Center is open, each walker must pay an entrance fee to participate in and complete walk. 2020 prices - $10 - adults, $9 - seniors over 60, $6 - kids 6-18 and college students with ID, FREE - kids 5 and under). There are several ways listed on website to qualify for a $1.00 discount.
