Event comments

Part of the trail goes through and along the top of the Old Fort walls. This section is not suitable for strollers or handicapped. This section can be bypassed. Restrooms and water are available at the start/finish. Fort Monroe has transitioned most of the land to the Commonwealth of Virginia (Fort Monroe Authority). Fort Monroe was named a National Monument, so bring your National Park Service Passport book!

how to get to the event

Driving to the start box

30 Ingalls Road, Ft Monroe, VA 23651. I-64 to Hampton, Exit I-64 at Exit 268 Phoebus. Left at stop light to Mallory Street, approx 0.2 miles, right to E Mellon Street (SR E 143). Enter Historic Ft Monroe bearing left to Ingalls Rd. Continue past the entrance to the old fort to the new Visitor and Education Center. Turn left on the road just beyond the center to the parking lot behind.
