Start Point / Driving Directions: Clark Sportscenter 124 County Highway 52, Cooperstown. 607-547-2800. From east: I-90 exit 29 at Canajoharie. Go straight on Church St., right on Rte. 5S to Ft. Plain. Turn left onto Rte. 80 to Cooperstown. In village turn left onto Chestnut St. Right on Susquehanna Ave.(rte.52) .8mi. to Sportscenter on right. From west: I-90 to exit 30 at Herkimer. Take Rte. 28 south to intersection with Rte. 80. Continue on 80 to Cooperstown and intersection with Chestnut St. Follow directions above.

Comments: HIGHLIGHTS ON THE WALK There will be a 5km loop and a 10km loop. Both loops will explore the historic downtown area and take the walker along the lake front. The 10km route will also take the walker by the majestic Otesaga Hotel and past the Farmers Museum and the Fenimore Art Museum.The walks start at the modern Clark Sportscenter and passes through the village residential area to the historic Main Street, past the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Main Street has many interesting shops with baseball memorabilia and souveniers. Pass Doubleday Field where the annual Old-timers Baseball Game is played. Walkers will walk through the church cemetery where many of the Cooper family are interred including James Fenimore Cooper. Through Lakefront Park, by the water edge of Lake Otsego (Glimmerglass in JF Cooper novels). By the Farmers Museum, a living outdoor history museum with period buildings and agricultural exhibits.Post Convention Walk prepared by the Empire State Capital Volkssporters.
