Event comments
Make sure you take drinking water with you on the trails. Be prepared for Kansas heat & humidity for you and your pets. The start of the walk will be in the afternoon of April 7. Please check with the POC for an accurate start time on that day. Assisted Registration: Available between 1:00p.m.-3:00p.m.; The walk box will not be on site until 1:00p.m. Note: The towns of Independence and Coffeyville are 22 miles apart, approximate driving time is 30 minutes.

Event information
The walking course will feature shaded residential areas of Independence along with the downtown business area. Independence is the county seat of Montgomery County & will have several governmental buildings to see. A Lady Liberty statue will be on both courses. The 10km course will visit Ralph Mitchell Zoo and Park. Also have some areas of full sun. Driving to the start box
3000 West Main Street Comfort Inn and Suites is located on US 75 2 miles west of the center of town. Motel will be on the north side of highway. Registration only. You will need to drive to the start point location for the walk. The start of the walk will actually be the front area of McDonald's. Parking will be on West Myrtle Street or the parking lot of G & W Foods, near Myrtle Street.
