Description: For an accessible, High Sierra portion of the Pacific Crest Trail, the Meiss Trailhead-Carson Pass lopsided figure 8 route is a great overview! From the Meiss Trailhead, 6k of the route is a combination of uphill, switchbacks, some flat areas, and one boulder pile. The out and back takes you along an overlook with views across the valley, by meadows with wildflowers and a pond, to a crest with lodgepole pines (the turnaround). After your return to the Meiss Trailhead, cross State Highway 88 to the Carson Pass Trailhead by the Ranger Station and walk the 4k loop to and around Frog Lake. All trails are easy to follow.
