Event comments

There is one moderate hill and several busy intersections that require caution. Trail is routed along Pensacola Bay, through the historic district and parts of downtown. There has been a lot of preservation and restoration as well as ongoing excavations. Many buildings have become restaurants, shops, museums and businesses. Restoration within the historic district follows strict guidelines. The walk loops through St Michael's Cemetery with internments dating back to Pensacola's early history. Gravesites include that of Stephen Mallory, first Secretary of the Navy of the Confederacy; one can also add that he was the ONLY one. Restrooms and water are available along the route.

Driving to the start box

711 N Hayne. I-10 exit 12, merge to I-110 S 5.8 miles to exit 2. Turn left to Cervantes, go to Alcaniz (next block). Turn right on Alcaniz 2 blocks to Jackson. Turn right on Jackson and turn right to Haney. Immediately turn left to Police Dept parking lot. Walk box inside door on left. Box contains information on Joe Patti Walk. Register properly. Follow directions to START of walk and enjoy Pensacola Experience.
