Event information

Walk in the Harney county seat, the largest county in Oregon and the ninth largest in the USA. Named after Scottish poet, Burns is known as the Gateway to Steens Mountain. The Malheur National Wildlife Refuge is actually 30 miles South of Burns. Hosted each April is the John Scharff Migratory Bird Festival and Art Show during the migration of waterfowl and other birds through the area.

Driving to the start box

Registration is by mail only. THERE IS NO START BOX. Register by sending a signed waiver, $3, and a SASE or email address to the point of contact. Then you will be provided, either by postal mail or email, driving directions, walk directions, and a map.
