Event information

Walk through the Theler Wetlands Nature Preserve and the grounds of the adjacent Pacific Salmon Center in Mason County. This walk explores a wildlife-rich estuary at the farthest reaches of fjordlike Hood Canal. More info at http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/mary-e-theler-wetlands-nature preserve. The Mary E Theler Community Center and Wetlands is a gift to the community a bequest to the North Mason School District. It is maintained by dedicated volunteers, a small staff and many community minded partners. A donation box is located on the right as you enter the wetlands.

Driving to the start box

23961 NE State Route 3, Ste B, Belfair, WA 98528. (360) 275-0922. From I-5 in Tacoma, take Hwy 16 West (Bremerton/Gig Harbor) crossing the Tacoma Narrows toll bridge and stay on Hwy 16 for 26 miles. Take the exit on the left toward WA-3 (S/Belfair/Shelton) and follow WA-3 into Belfair. Safeway is on the right in Belfair about 0.1 miles past NE Creelman Rd. Ask for walk box at the customer service desk.
