Description: Scenic mountain walking/hiking trail with views of Silver Falls and Ohanapecosh river. Both walks cross the river on a wooden bridge at Silver Falls. The 10K also crosses the river on a steel cable suspension bridge to an island with a wooden boardwalk that loops through huge trees in the Grove of the Patriarchs. The trail is mostly dirt with exposed roots and rocks in places. Walking sticks are helpful. Wa State Challenges: 39 Cos. - Lewis.

Location: Visitor Info Center, Ohanapecosh Campground, Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park
Start Point / Driving Directions: 360-569-6046. SOUTHBOUND from Tacoma, take HWY 410 to junction with Hwy 123 (Cayuse Pass). Follow Hwy 123 south and turn right into Ohanapecosh Campgrd. NORTHBOUND from Portland, take I-5 North to exit 68. Take Hwy 12 east through Packwood to junction with Hwy 123. Turn left on Hwy 123 and turn left into Ohanapecosh Campgrd. Park in Day Use parking area (signed). Ask for Walk Box at Visitor Info Center. Center normally open 9 - 5 but suggest check with center or POC before you go.

Comments: Wheelchairs and strollers not allowed on Park trails. Pets not allowed on the trail nor in Visitors Center. Pets on leash allowed in campground sites only. Restrooms at start point and at Stevens Canyon road crossing parking lot. Day use parking area near visitor center has a limited number of parking spots so parking close to the info center can be an issue on weekends. Visitors Info Center season opening and closing dates and hours can vary.
