Event information

McDonald's hours, Daily 5:30 am to 11 pm; closed 3pm on Thanksgiving & Christmas. RESTROOMS/WATER are available at the start point, the Cathedral & the Zoo. PETS are not allowed in the Start Point, on the Cathedral grounds or in the National Zoo. Cathedral Hours: 10 AM to 4:30 PM. Zoo Hours: 10 AM to 6 PM April through Oct.; 10 AM to 4:30 PM Nov - March; closed Christmas Day. The Zoo may close due to ice or snow. If in doubt, call the Zoo at 202-633-4800. The Zoo / National Cathedral 10 km trail goes through the Zoo, some of the finest neighborhood in Washington, DC, and the grounds of the National Cathedral. The trail is mostly on paved surfaces. The 5 Km trial goes to and around in the Zoo. The Adams Morgan 10 km trail includes the U St. areas of DC. Highlights of this walk are great architecture of buildings, an abundance of musical history, many restaurants of ethnic varieties, Ben's Chili Bowl & many other historical & interesting sights. The two 10km sections can be combined to complete the entire 20 km trail.

Driving to the start box

2616 Connecticut Ave NW, 202-462-8773. Start Point adjacent Metro escalators; 2 entrances: Connecticut and a rear entrance on 24th (wheelchair accessible at rear entrance). BY METRO: Red Line to Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Station. BY CAR: I-495 (Capital Beltway) to Exit 33, Connecticut S, about 6 miles to Calvert. Right on Calvert. Park on streets weekends only or if necessary in Omni Shoreham Hotel parking lot on Calvert (hourly rates). START BOX: From Conn. Ave entrance, go down stairs to McDonalds. Look LEFT; Start Box usually kept on floor by Trash containers.
