Event comments

Restrooms are available at the Eldridge House, and along the course. Walk box is usually kept at the registration desk, on the left side near floor when walkers are facing the registration area. Desk personnel often change & may not know where to look. KU football & basketball game days will be congested. Walkers may choose to detour from the walk directions. Lawrence is located in Douglas County, and is the county seat.

Event information

Daily, dawn to dusk. This course will lead through shaded, residential areas of Lawrence as well as the downtown business area. Most of the courses will be on city sidewalks or paved streets on fairly flat terrain. Be prepared for uneven and /or brick sidewalks. Part of the 10km trail will have hills as it goes through the University of Kansas main campus. Trail rating is 2-A due to steep hill on campus. Civil War historians will enjoy this walk. There are many state-named streets in Lawrence for those walkers enrolled in that special program.

Driving to the start box

701 Massachusetts 66044 785-749-5011 From I-70, take the east Lawrence exit #204. From the toll booth, turn left on US 59 and go toward Lawrence. Cross the Kansas River and continue on Vermont St. to 7th. Turn left and go 1 block to Massachusetts. The Eldridge Hotel will be on the corner. Parking will be in lots along Vermont Street. Start box is at the registration desk.
