Store is open 7x24 . After registering, you must drive about 3 miles to the Park Office for Catoctin Park (National Park Service). The trail is through the woods in the park. It visits Cunningham Falls which has a 78 ft drop and is the highest waterfall in Maryland. It visits overlooks at Hog Rock and Thurmont Vista. The trail has significant hills with lots of rocks and roots. You should be wearing sturdy shoes and carrying water. If you have hiking sticks, you probably want to bring them. This walk is not suitable for wheelchairs and strollers due to the rough terrain.

140 Frederick St, 21788. S: N on US Rt 15 to MD Rt 806. Turn right at stop sign, left at traffic light to Frederick. Immediate right to 7-11 Convenience Store across street from Mountain Gate Family Restaurant. N: Exit US Rt 15 at MD 806. Turn left at stop sign, proceed as above. Start box located to left of door, near ATM, on window sill.

There is no entrance fee for Catoctin Park. This is probably the most physically challenging volksmarch in Maryland.
