Day Use State Park fee $5; insert cash in box at entrance station. Restrooms and water available at both Cape Arago and Shore Acres State Parks. Sunset Bay State Park, nearby, has a beautiful beach. Dogs are prohibited in Shore Acres' gardens. Shore Acres' gardens have spectacular Christmas lighting in evenings, beginning in late November. WOC: Arches, Coastal Walks, Docks, Flowers, Forest, Gazebo, Gardens, Landmarks, Monuments, Water Treatment plants and Waterways. WWC: Coastal Walks

Event information

The 10 km. route, rated 3C, is on the Pacific Coast Trail through forests from Cape Arago State Park to and through Shore Acres State Park. The 5 km. route, rated 2B, is along a shorter portion of the Pacific Coast Trail and through Shore Acres State Park. Shore Acres, on both routes, has extensive formal gardens and dramatic seaside cliffs. Daylight hours.

how to get to the event

Driving to the start box

Follow Oregon Coastal Highway 101 to North Bend or Coos Bay. From the north in North Bend, turn right on Virginia St. and from the south in Coos Bay, turn left on Commercial St. and follow signs to Charleston and ocean beaches. Chuck's Seafood is second building on the right after crossing Charleston Bridge. After registering, you will drive a short distance to begin your walk.
