Public restrooms and water available at Observatory in parking lot. due to the terrain, wheelchairs not permitted. No pets past the parking lot area, please, due to the wildlife.

Event information

Griffith Park is one of the most beloved urban getaways in L.A. With 55 miles of trails, wild quail, rodents, foxes, coyotes and deer, its hard to believe its smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles. The 10k route consists of two 5ks that can also be walked separately. Both start at the Griffith Park Observatory. The Mount Hollywood trail 5k climbs to the summit of Mount Hollywood, the highest elevation in Los Angeles. Get a birds eye view of the Hollywood sign as well as views over the entire Los Angeles valley. The walk is all on natural trails and the climb is steady with an elevation gain of 500 feet. The second 5k descends from the Observatory on the West Observatory Trail and includes a Native American encampment site. It has a 500 foot elevation gain.
