Event comments
Many species of waterfowl may be seen from the trail. The trail is mostly along park roads, however some of the walk is over grassy fields and on a boardwalk into the marshes along the Houston Ship Channel. Pets are not allowed in the museum. Bring insect repellent, sunscreen, hat, water, and binoculars.

Route winds throughout the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site, around the San Jacinto Monument, and past the State Historic Battleship Texas. Open 9am-6pm. Closed most holidays.

Driving to the start box
3523 Independence Pkwy, 77571-9773. Historic site located 19 miles E of downtown Houston. Sam Houston Tollway 8 or Loop-610 to TX-225 E. (If approaching Houston from E on I-10, Exit TX-146 S to TX-225 W) Exit Independence Pkwy (TX-134) turn left (N). At Y in road, take right fork to monument. Walk Box in kiosk left of W entrance.
