Battleship Cove has world's largest collection of historic naval ships. Route visits Columbia Street Cultural District with Portuguese influence, historic downtown neighborhoods, Lizzie Borden's House, city parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted & returns via Heritage State Park with magnificent Iwo Jima sculpture; traverses boardwalk which hugs Taunton River & overlooks Battleship Cove. 2nd PoC: Karen Plichta (508-673-2374 or karenp53@verizon.net).

how to get to the event

Driving to the start box

5 Water St, Fall River, MA 02721, 508-678-1100. Open daily 9 AM-5 PM, mid-April to Columbus Day; otherwise closes at 4:30 PM. Closed Thanksgiving & Christmas Day; open abbreviated hours Dec. 24 & 31: 9 AM-Noon only. Walk Box in rear of store near register. From North & Northwest: Rt 495 South or Rt 128/95 South to Rt 24 South to Exit 7 (Rt 79 South). Follow signs to Battleship Cove. Rt 79 South to third exit (Rt 6 East/New Bedford). Straight on Davol St to second parking lot on right at Heritage State Park. From Cape Cod: I-195 West into Fall River to Exit 5 before Braga Bridge. Merge and stay LEFT to go straight into Battleship Cove. From West: I-195 East into Fall River. Take Exit 6 (Hartwell St, Downtown Fall River). Bear RIGHT at stop sign and follow detour signs for Rts 79/138 to Battleship Cove.
