Alternate Start Location is at Private Residence at 1287 Shippensburg Road, Biglerville, PA 17307 (717) 677-6511. From US-30/Lincoln Way East from Chambersburg, turn left just past Caledonia State Park on PA Route 233/Pine Grove Rd. At the first four-way intersection, turn right on Shippensburg Rd towards Arendtsville. Go over the crest of the hill, past Loop Rd, and the residence is a log home on the left. It is across the street from the row of mail boxes at Woodview Rd.****From I-83 between Carlisle and Shippensburg, take the Newville exit and turn left on PA Rt 233. At Pine Grove Furnace State Park, Rt 233 makes a right hand turn. At the first four-way intersection, turn left on Shippensburg Rd towards Arendtsville. Go over the crest of the hill, past Loop Rd, and the residence is a log home on the left. It is across the street from the row of mail boxes at Woodview Rd.*****This event qualifies for the Pennsylvania State Parks & Forest Challenge. The "B" award is a patch that features a water lilly in bloom.*****The 9K Pole Steeple Loop will be hazardous and should not be done when snow is on the ground **** Recommend you purchase a picnic lunch at Rutters and eat it at the park.****The trails passes the Appalachian Trail (AT) Museum - the only museum in the world dedicated to hiking. The trail also passes the General Store where AT Thru Hikers celebrating reaching the mid-point of the AT with the ice cream challenge. **** The Appalachian Trail Passport Program stamps are available at the General Store, the AT Museum, and the Ironmasters Mansion. The Park Office has the stamp for the Pennsylvania Stamp Parks and Forest Passport Program. In 2017, the General Store had the AT Passport Program stamp for Caledonia State Park. **** Qualifies for the Pennsylvania Counties Program for Cumberland County.

Rutters is open 7x24. ****** After registering at Rutter's you must drive about 16 miles to the park. ***** The trail is new for 2018 and qualifies for the AVA Appalachian Trail Program. It is within Pine Grove Furnace State Park and Michaux State Forest. The 0.9K Historic Area Trail (rated 1B) passes the Ironmasters Mansion Hostel, General Store, Appalachian Trail Museum, and Park Office. The 4K Koppenhaver Trail uses the Koppenhaver Trail. The 9K Pole Steeple Loop (rated 2C) follows the Appalachian Trail through the Park and uphill to the top of Pole Steeple. It then follows the Pole Steeple Trail past the overlook and downhill to the Railroad Bed Road at Laurel Lake. This road is then used to return to the State Park. The trails are not suitable for wheelchairs and strollers because of the rocks and roots. The Historic Area Trail must be done with the 9K Pole Steeple Trail for 10K credit. It must also be done with the 4K Koppenhaver Trail for 5K Credit. The Historic Area Trail may be done at the beginning or the end of the walk. All three trails must be done, in any sequence, for 14K credit.

Rutters is on the left at the intersection of US-30 and PA-997 South.*****From the Square in Gettysburg, take Chambersburg St/US-30 West towards Chambersburg for 17 miles. Rutters is on the right at the intersection of US-30 and PA-997 South.
