Description: Walk, Swim, and Bike today, too! For Saturday, there are lots of choices along the trail for food and water. (On Sunday, there are no food/drink choices until late in the routes.) Choose between the 6, 11, 21, or the 42 Km "Marathon" route. +++ The 6 Km route crosses the Potomac River over the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge into Washington, DC, passing the Kennedy Center; crossing the Rock Creek Parkway to the checkpoint at House of Sweden (Featured Embassy) before strolling along the Georgetown Waterfront Park and crossing the Key Bridge to the Finish. The route stays along the Potomac River on asphalt paths, before crossing the George Mason Memorial Bridge into the District to pass the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, and the Kennedy Center, before connecting with the Rock Creek Parkway trail to the checkpoint at the House of Sweden (Featured Embassy.) Strolling along the Georgetown Waterfront Park provides outstanding final views of the Potomac River before crossing the Key Bridge to the Finish. Covering the National Mall from the Lincoln Memorial to the US Capitol building, over to Union Station, and past other iconic landmarks before connecting with the Rock Creek Parkway trail to the checkpoint at the House of Sweden (Featured Embassy). Strolling along the Georgetown Waterfront Park provides outstanding final views of the Potomac River before crossing the Key Bridge to the Finish. Strolling along the Georgetown Waterfront Park provides outstanding final views of the Potomac River before crossing the Key Bridge to the Finish. Location: Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge. 1900 N. Fort Myer Drive, Arlington, Virginia 22209
Start Point / Driving Directions: All routes begin and end at our official, event hotel: Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge. The closest metro is "Rosslyn" on the Orange/Blue/Silver lines, 3 blocks away. Some free parking is available at the hotel, but avoid "Reserved" spaces. Parking is free for overnight hotel guests. There are multiple parking levels in the Holiday Inns garage, and like the floors inside the hotel, do not connect. The Ft. Myer Street garage entrance is the largest lot. The side parking lot, off Nash Street, leads to the Mezzanine garage level, which connects to nothing. The actual Nash Street garage entrance is on the walk finish level, and connects to the rooftop lot, which is all marked as Reserved.

From I-95 in Virginia, travel north on I-395 to exit 8B and merge onto Washington Blvd towards the PENTAGON. Travel north on Route 27 to Route 50 and take the right exit onto Route 50. Immediately take the Lynn Street ramp and turn right. Turn left at Lee Highway and next left on Ft. Myer Drive. See above for hotel parking information.

Today's Schedule:
- 42 Km (Marathon) Start: 7:00 am - 7:30 am.
- 21 Km Start: 8:00 am - 11:00 am.
- 6 and 11 Km Start: 8:00 - 12:00 pm (noon).
- Bike Start: 7:00 am - 2:00 pm.
- Swim Start: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. The indoor pool is just across from the Ballroom, on Floor 2.
- All events must finish by 5:00 pm.
- Cash Bar at Start/Finish (The Ballroom) from 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
- International Dinner in the hotel's "Vantage Point" Restaurant, on the 17th floor. Dinner begins at 6:00 pm. Registration is required, inquire at the Start/Finish room, if you did not pre-register for the dinner.

There is a $3 "Credit Only" option for walk distances under 15 Km today, which earns only the IVV Credit Stamp (No Certificate. No Medal. No Pin.) There are NO FREE WALKERS.

If you participate in at least one walk, one swim, and one bike event during the US FreedomWalk weekend, you will be eligible to purchase the special "VolksTriathlon" medal. See the display at the Start/Finish Table.

The USFWF event is sponsored by Arlington County, Virginia. All walks qualify for IVV-AVA credit, but for distances of 20+ Km walked on Saturday and again on Sunday, participants qualify to receive the special IML Walking Association stamp in their "International Walker Passport" book, which is available for purchase.

Washington, DC is the backdrop for this international walking festival where Fun, Fitness, and International Friendship combine to make this a walking weekend to remember! The USFWF offers plenty of walking chances today and Sunday. Come out and walk with us this weekend, and experience the splendor of the fall colors on display in our Nation's Capital.
