Description: You can Walk, Swim, and ride a Bike today! For Friday's walk, the focus is on Arlington. Choose either the 5 or 10 Km route. The 5 Km route (rated 2A) winds through the "Rosslyn neighborhood" and visits the: Iwo Jima Memorial, Netherlands Carillon, and "Women in Military Service for America" Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery, before returning to the Finish. The 10 Km route (rated 2A) winds through the "Rosslyn neighborhood" and visits the: Iwo Jima Memorial, Netherlands Carillon, and these highlights of Arlington National Cemetery: Kennedy Gravesite, Amphitheater ("The Tomb of the Unknowns" is directly behind the Amphitheater), and "Women in Military Service for America" Memorial; and other Arlington neighborhoods before returning to the Finish. Only designated service animals are allowed in Arlington National Cemetery, and you will have TSA-style security to pass through to enter the Cemetery. Of the Special Programs we identified, those that are unique to the 10 Km distance are: Amphitheaters, Treasure Hunt (Tomb of the Unknowns), and Points of Reference ("Quarterdeck" Restaurant). Arlington National Cemetery has hills on the 10 Km route.

Location: Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge. 1900 N. Fort Myer Drive, Arlington,Virginia 22209
Start Point / Driving Directions: All routes begin and end at the official, event hotel: Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge. The closest metro is "Rosslyn" on the Orange/Blue/Silver lines, 3 blocks away. Some free parking is available at the hotel, but avoid "Reserved" spaces. Parking is free for overnight hotel guests. There are multiple parking levels in the Holiday Inns garage, and like the floors inside the hotel, do not connect. The Ft. Myer Street garage entrance is the largest lot. The side parking lot, off Nash Street, leads to the Mezzanine garage level, which connects to nothing. The actual Nash Street garage entrance is on the walk finish level, and connects to the rooftop lot, which is all marked as Reserved.

From I-95 in Virginia, travel north on I-395 to exit 8B and merge onto Washington Blvd towards the PENTAGON. Travel north on Route 27 to Route 50 and take the right exit onto Route 50. Immediately take the Lynn Street ramp and turn right. Turn left at Lee Highway and next left on Ft. Myer Drive. See above for hotel parking information.

Today's Schedule:
- Registration for today's events starts at 10 am, but YOU CANNOT START WALKING UNTIL THE NOON START TIME.
- Walk Start: 12:00 pm (noon) - 3:00 pm.
- Swim Start: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. The indoor pool is just across from the Ballroom, on Floor 2.
- Bike Start: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.
- All events must finish by 6:00 pm.
- The Opening Ceremony starts at 4:00 pm., in the Ballroom.
- The Social, in the Ballroom at 6:00 pm. Pre-registration is not needed.

There is no $3 "Credit Only" option for today's walk, and NO FREE WALKERS today.

If you participate in at least one walk, one swim, and one bike event during the US FreedomWalk weekend, you will be eligible to purchase the special "VolksTriathlon" medal. See the display at the Start/Finish Table.

The USFWF event is sponsored Arlington County, Virginia. All walks qualify for IVV-AVA credit, but for distances of 20+ Km walked on Saturday and again on Sunday, participants qualify to receive the special IML Walking Association stamp in their "International Walker Passport" book, which is available for purchase. Washington, DC is the backdrop for this international walking festival where Fun, Fitness, and International Friendship combine to make this a walking weekend to remember! The USFWF offers plenty of distance options over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Come out and walk with us this weekend, and experience the splendor of the fall colors on display in our Nation's Capital.
