Event comments
The highlight is Lapp Valley Farm, where you can buy ice cream that is made right on the premises with the familys Jersey cows. They also have baby calves, friendly bulldogs, and cats. Most of the roads on the route have been chosen to have low traffic, but there are a few short sections with heavier tourist traffic. Stick to the road shoulder and be aware of passing traffic. You may still do the walk on Sundays but Lapp Valley Farm is closed, which will disappoint ice cream lovers. The ice cream parlor is open 8am-8pm Mon-Fri and 8am-6pm Sat. This walk is very exposed, so wear sun protection. Not recommended on a very hot day or in bad weather. Please note that the Amish do not like to have their photos taken, so dont ask them to pose. If you do take a photo, please do so at a respectful distance. The start location, Plain & Fancy / Smokehouse BBQ restaurant, is highly recommended as a local dining experience. They serve a family-style country dinner called "the Amish feast" that's delicious and gives a taste of the region. There's also an attached hotel called the AmishView Inn & Suites and many other lodging options in the area.

Event information
This walk is in the heart of Lancaster County Amish farmland. After registering at the start, you will drive a couple of miles to do the walk. The walk is on country roads passing many Amish farms, crop fields, one-room schoolhouses, and a few Mennonite churches. Youll see lots of farm animals of all types on this route and probably lots of horses and buggies too. There is one hill but its mostly flat. Start Time: 9A-7P until Memorial Day, then 8A-7P.
