Event information
Daylight Hours. The route is a combination of city sidewalks and the Lake Overlook Trail, a fairly easy desert hike. The Lake Overlook Trail is an interface of urban-desert, so while you see the city you are also surrounded by desert mountains. You will see a variety of cacti and other desert flora; and you might spot quail, cactus wrens, lizards, javelina, cottontail and jack rabbits, coyotes, and even an occasional bald eagle. The trail also allows a view of the fountain for which Fountain Hills was named. At the top of each hour, it sprays a 300-500 foot plume of water for fifteen minutes (wind permitting). Restrooms at start/finish and along route.

Driving to the start box
12800 N Saguaro, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268. From AZ101 Lp exit 41, go E on Shea approx 10.5 miles. Turn left on N Saguaro approx 2.5 miles and turn left on Paul Nordin Pkwy to the Lexington Hotel & Suites.
