Restaurant open daily 6am-9pm; call for holiday hours. Ask at the counter for the Walk Box-it was last kept in the middle steel cabinet behind the right-side cash register. The Lost Slough Wetlands Walk is a 1-mile universally-accessible trail offering an up-close view of lush marshes, wetland plants, water-birds, insects and amphibians. There is also a wooden boardwalk meandering into the Lost Slough. The River Walk Trail is on raised levees through a variety of habitats, including buttonbush thickets, native grasslands, valley oak riparian forest, cottonwood-willow riparian forest, tule marsh, valley oak savannah and several restoration projects. During the winter months, the natural flood cycle often results in complete inundation of this trail by floodwaters.Boardwalk is open from 10am-4pm and trail is open from sunrise to sunset. Driving to the start box

2733 Elk Grove Blvd, Elk Grove CA 95758, (916) 478-9245. From I-5, take the Elk Grove Blvd exit and go east. McDonald's is on the left, just past Harbour Point Dr. From SR 99, take Elk Grove Blvd exit and go west. McDonald's is on the right on the northeast corner of Elk Grove Blvd and Harbour Point Dr. Driving from McDonald's to the Preserve: Head northwest on Elk Grove Blvd toward Harbour Point Dr. Merge onto I-5 S via the ramp to Los Angeles. Take Exit 498 for Twin Cities Rd and turn left. Turn right onto Franklin Blvd, destination will be on the left. Another option is to head northwest on Elk Grove Blvd toward Harbour Point Dr. Make a U-turn at Harbour Point Dr. Use the right 2 lanes to turn right onto Franklin Blvd. Make a slight right to stay on Franklin Blvd. In 8.9 miles the destination will be on the left.
