Event comments

Clarksburg is named after Judge Robert C Clark who came to California in 1852 after receiving his education in Ohio and Kentucky and practicing law in St Louis. In 1858, he was elected judge and was so well loved and respected by the populace that he continued to hold the office against all other candidates for twenty consecutive years. Judge Clark achieved a splendid reputation for his sense of justice while on the bench; and, in his twenty years of service only had one case that was reversed on appeal to the Supreme Court. Event information

Market is open M-S 6am to 11pm. Walk box is on a shelf by the window, across from the service counter. Walk the Clarksburg Branch Line Trail, a former rail line converted to a paved trail followed by crushed stone. Signs mark the trail every tenth of a mile. This walk will take you past a tranquil pond and continues on a quiet and scenic trail with views of mature native oak trees and open-space fields that stretch to the Sacramento River. In the spring, wild mustard turns the fields into a blaze of yellow. Small white tailed rabbits inhabit the brambles, horses can be seen grazing and many small and large species of birds occupy this natural setting. A new 5k loop has been added that takes you out of the back of the Nugget Market and lets you explore the neighborhoods and parks in that direction. Restrooms available at start and at the Nugget Market.
