Event information
Stroll along either (or both) Rail Trails from the same Start Point including the "Walkway over Hudson River" (the world's tallest & longest elevated pedestrian bridge: 212 ft over River). Options along these connected rail trails provide you with 5K/8K/10K/12K options. (The 12k trail is a loop through the City of Poughkeepsie that recrosses the Hudson River on Mid-Hudson (FDR) bridge back to St. Pt.; all other distances are out and backs along either/both the two rail trails); not all route combinations go across the Walkway; see walking directions for details. 12K loop 2A; all others are 1A. Note: Severe weather immediately closes Walkway, even if you are on other side from St. Pt. For the non-12K trails, a wheel chair is doable with assistance on short distance along state highway sidewalk to trailhead. Check Walkway website http://www.walkway.org to ensure Walkway is open prior to your walking due to their holding of events or closures.

Driving to the start box
3579 US Rt 9W, Highland, NY 12528-1730. Rt 9W on West Side Hudson River across Hudson from Poughkeepsie & US Rt 9. 7a.m. to dusk. (There is alternative small parking lot at the Walkway Over the Hudson State Park that is more easily accessible for wheel chair and strollers. 2k needs to be deducted from certain distances if using this lot; walking directions will have details).
