Event comments

Featured are scenic overlooks and several footbridges over small streams. You will also visit the remains of the American Chestnut tree from which the property takes its name, as well as an old family cemetery. The Start Box is located on the porch of the small, wooden building to the right front of the parking area. Also, please sign the Visitor's Log at the ACLT main trail entrance to promote continued funding for the Land Trust. There are no restrooms and no water at the start/finish or along the trail. However, there is a well-maintained privy just a short distance along the trail from the start point. Nevertheless, it is highly recommended that you stop for water and restrooms at one of the establishments along Route 4 in Prince Frederick. The ACLT is in a scenic, rustic area. The trail is on natural surfaces, including steep hills.
