Event information

The Leon Creek Greenway is part of the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail System, which is a growing network of developed multi-use and accessible trails. The Leon Creek Greenway consists of concrete and asphalt surfaces and is currently 23 km (14.5 mi) in length, with several connector trails linking other parks together in the trail system. This event uses the section of trail between the Mainland Trailhead and Military Drive Trailhead. The trail is well shaded in most areas. Volkssporters will see limestone bluffs, wildflower fields, stands of Cottonwoods and other heritage trees. Wildlife may be seen in the meadows. This event is dedicated to Lt. Col William J. Radigan, Jr. who was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident on 30 September 2014. Bill Radigan was a Volkssporter - Volunteer Extraordinaire. Bill served as the Vice President and the Treasurer of the LoneStar Walkers, AVA-944 as well as an AVA National Headquarters volunteer for the AVA Executive Director. Bill was also a dedicated supporter of the Leon Creek Greenway
