Event information
Trail follows River Walk on the levee with an 8 mile view, through residential areas and to Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site. New Madrid is the oldest American city west of the MS River. The 1811-12 earthquake is the greatest seismic event in N. America. Area was part of El Camino Real, Trail of Tears and Civil War Flotilla Battle of Island #10.

Driving to the start box
#1 Main St. 573-748-5944 Southbound on I-55, Exit 49 for US-61/US-62. Left on US-61/US-62. Left on Hwy. U which becomes Dawson Rd. Right on Main St. to Waters St. Museum is ahead on the left. Park in gravel lot on the right. Walk Box is on the floor to the right of the entry.
