Start Point / Driving Directions: If traveling east or west on U.S. Hwy 26, turn north on State Hwy 29 in Mitchel Nebraska. Thirty-Four (34) miles north of Mitchel, turn east on River Road (it is paved) and follow the National Park service signs for 3 miles to visitor center and museum. - If traveling east or west on U.S. Hwy 20, turn south on State Hwy 29 in Harrison, Nebraska. Twenty two (22) miles south of Harrison, turn east n River Road (it is paved) and follow the National Park Service signs for three miles to Visitor Center and Museum

Comments: This walk features fossil beds of the Miocene Epoch, while a stop at the visitor center will include fossils, the Cook collection (homestead) and the collection of Native American artifacts given to James Cook by Red Cloud and others. Come take a walk with me where I completed my first Volksmarch in the 1980s.
