Event is mostly flat with some curbs and includes Observatory Park, a few smaller parks, and the University of Denver, founded in 1864, the oldest independent university in the Rocky Mountain region and the campus is designated as an arboretum. U.S. News and World Report ranks DU among the top 100 universities in the nation and houses the Iliff School of Theology, including historic landmark Evans Chapel and the Newman Center for the Performing Arts. The DU Pioneers are known for becoming the 2004 and 2005 (back-to-back) National Champions in college hockey.
