Event comments
Qualifies for PA County Challenge - Jefferson County Punxsutawney is one of the most famous small towns in America thanks to a furry little critter named Punxsutawney Phil. Celebrating traditions brought over from Europe; in 1887, the town established the Ground Hog Club to celebrate Candlemas. This club's mascot has become the town's most famous resident. The walk will start out near Phil's Burrow and depending on which distance you choose you will make the trek up to Gobbler's Knob. After your walk, take your time to visit the Weather Discovery Center at 201 North Finley Street and the Historical Society at 401 West Mahoning Street.

The second loop will take you up a hill to Gobblers Knob on a roadway shoulder. The third loop is along the Mahoning Shadow Rail Trail. It is recommended during inclement weather to walk the historic town loop twice and then drive up to Gobblers Knob. The roadway shoulder and rail trail may not have snow removed for walking.
