Event comments
Individuals 15 years of age and below get in to the National Historic Site free when accompanied by an adult. All others are charged a $4.00 fee. Entrance fee is good for individual entrance into the exhibits inside the Barracks/Courthouse building. There is no fee for viewing the grounds. There is no entry fee for America the Beautiful-National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands, Golden Age, Golden Access, and Fort Smith NHS passholders. Attached to 29 bronze plaques in the downtown area are electronic QR codes that enable people with smart phones or IPads to download and view short videos about the plaques' subjects.

Event information
Dawn to dusk daily. 10k and 5k routes take in the National Historic Site grounds where some of the points of interest are Trail of Tears overlook along the Arkansas River, reconstructed gallows where Judge Isaac Parker sentenced 79 of the 86 men executed here. Also, the parade grounds, museums, libraries, churches, and downtown area are along the way.

Driving to the start box
700 Rogers, Ft Smith, AR 72901 (479)783-1000 (GPS coord: 35deg 23'06.59" N 94deg 25'28.74" W) From I-40 W exit 325 to merge on US64 E/W Ray Fine toward Roland Continue to follow US64 E. Turn right at S 6th. Take the 1st left onto Rogers. From the N (or from I-40 E), take I-49 S to Rogers. (Exit 8A). Follow Rogers to the Doubletree at 7th and Rogers.
