Event information

Start and finish your walk at a 1940's era drug store with authentic soda fountain. Hoskins Drug Store is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m M-F and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Closed all major holidays. Soda fountain is open all day for ice cream, sodas, & grilled sandwiches. Hot plate lunches are available until 2 p.m. Walk in the steps of the twelve African-American students (Clinton 12) who enrolled in High School fall of 1956 to become first African-Americans to desergregate a state-supported public school in the Southeast. The walk will take you to Green-McAdoo Cultural Center (open Tues-Sat 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., free) to see the full success story of how a community came together for a better future for all. Walkers may want to call the Green-McAdoo Cultural Center (865-463-6500) in advance to confirm they will be open during the time you are planning your walk.

Driving to the start box

111 N. Main St., Clinton, TN. From Knoxville, head northwest onto I-275 N via I-40 E ramp to Asheville. Take Exit #3 US-5W/I-640 to Clinton/Asheville and bear left toward Clinton. Continue on US-25W N to 111 N. Main Street
