Description: Start and finish your walk at a 1940's era drug store with authentic soda fountain. Hoskins Drug Store is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m M-F and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Closed all major holidays. Soda fountain is open all day for ice cream, sodas, & grilled sandwiches. Hot plate lunches are available until 2 p.m. Walk in the steps of the twelve African-American students (Clinton 12) who enrolled in High School fall of 1956 to become first African-Americans to desergregate a state-supported public school in the Southeast. The walk will take you to Green-McAdoo Cultural Center (open Tues-Sat 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., free) to see the full success story of how a community came together for a better future for all. Walkers may want to call the Green-McAdoo Cultural Center (865-463-6500) in advance to confirm they will be open during the time you are planning your walk.
