Event information
Walk along and over the Willamette River to visit the 9 acre Owen Rose Garden. Then to the historic Shelton-McMurphy House and up a long series of steps and a roadway to reach the summit of Skinner Butte; enjoy an expansive view of Eugene, parts of Springfield, and the Cascade and Coast Range foothills. Descend Skinner Butte on a gravel path to reach Campbell Senior Center and the Willamette River. Walk on a wide paved path along the river to RiverPlay, an innovative children's playground, and to a replica of Eugene Skinner's cabin, the first structure in the area. Return along the river (the Willamette Greenway) and over it to reach the Valley River Inn. The 5 km. route skips Skinner Butte, is rated 1A, and is easy for strollers and wheelchairs.
