Event comments
The historic town of what is known as Old Town Fair Oaks was set up in 1844 as part of the Rancho San Juan Mexican Land Grant; primarily known for its fruit, almond and olive orchards. A group of prominent businessmen from Chicago set out to colonize it. They lobbied to have the Old Fair Oaks Bridge built in 1901 and rebuilt in 1909 after its collapse. A Southern Pacific railway line was put in on the south side to bring in settlers and sell produce to Sacramento. This bridge is now a national historic site and was featured in the 1980 film, "The Stuntman". CA Counties: Sacramento. (5K=3.1 miles, 10K=6.2 miles)
